It's hard to believe we've been doing this show for a year. It seems like only yesterday Chuck and I recorded our very first show about some absolutely random horror movie (the GOD awful Undead.) We've come a long way since then. Reviewing everything from sports, TV, politics, video games, Chuck's life. Nothing was safe from our analytical eye.

So perhaps it was fitting that we come full-circle on our first anniversary show by reviewing another totally random horror movie, The Mist. This film came out about two-years ago but it's one of our recent favorites here at MONOLITH. But more importantly, Shawn's back! He joins us later in the show to discuss the Strikeforce - Gina Carano vs. Cris Cyborg MMA card from San Jose and the latest news about Michael Vick. I'm not sure what we've done to incur the wrath of the Podcasting Gods, but they decided to reek havoc on our humble little show. A string of scheduling issues and technical difficulties converged to make a perfect storm, hindering us from recording the show. While all seemed lost, we here at MONOLITH never gave up and we persevered despite all obstacles!!! After all the good stuff we watched this weekend, we knew this show MUST BE DONE.

Today, we have a show filled to the brim with awesomeness. First, we recap the excellent Affliction - Day of Reckoning PPV. Fight! Fight! Fight! That's right, today's episode is dedicated to the sweet science. Roy Jones Jr. vs. Joe Calzaghe had a hell of a fight and we're back to recap the bout, MONOLITH STYLE! Shawn joins me to review not only the Jones/Calzaghe fight, but also the recent WEC event (which was awesome.) Unfortunately, we were unable to get NFL week 10 picks out on time (sorry!) but we still manage to work football and college basketball talk into the show. Overall, a good episode. Okay, so UFC 89 may not have been the greatest MMA event of all time, but at least it was free. The lack of marquee fighters and a preponderance of slow, methodical contests really dragged this card down. Yet these troubling facts do little to deter Shawn and I from providing another entertaining episode of the Monolith Podcast. Yes, even on a lackluster UFC show, we still provide substantive analysis (in my own humble opinion.) And as always, we have Shawn's NFL week 7 picks. Monolith Podcast - Episode 6: Elite XC - NFL Picks

Elite XC...what can I say? Kimbo Slice vs. Ken Shamrock didn't happen, but it was an entertaining show. Shawn joins me tonight to recap an event that had some good (Murilo "Ninja" Rua vs. Benji Radach), some average (Jake Shields vs. Paul Daley), and most importantly, noteworthy moments (Kimbo Slice vs. Seth Petruzelli.) Our discussion on Kimbo/Petruzelli is probably 10x longer than the actual fight, but fun nonetheless.

We also have Shawn's NFL picks for the week. If you like football (or you're somebody like me who doesn't understand it) this show IS FOR YOU!
